Woke up today to a developing cold. I always seem to pick something up on long flights. Hopefully this will be a better class of virus from my time spent in Club. Luckily I have some of my trusty Turkey Tail supplement with me so will do my immune system a favour and dose up.
I had intended to head straight to McMinnville today, but after a recommendation yesterday, I am heading further south for more spectacular coastal views and a visit to the Sea Lion Cave, fighting OCD all the way about the route meaning doubling back and covering the same ground later in the day. To be fair, spending time driving along narrow, windy coastal roads really helps you get used to driving an oversized beast of a car,
I was told that the Sea Lion Cave had the same ‘Wow’ factor that the Grand Canyon has. It does not. That said it is worth a look and the cold was actually working in my favour at that point as it helped to fend off the fishy fug.
I wasn’t overly impressed when I asked for an adult ticket and it was pointed out to me that senior tickets were also available. Kick a man while he’s down! I was even less impressed when I felt the need to correct the mistake rather than take the discount! I will need to adjust to this.
Heading back north and the cold is really starting to kick in. Nothing for it but to forge on through to McMinnville. When I got to the hotel, the woman on reception seemed genuinely surprised that I had a reservation. I suspect that the hotel is not used to paying guests … there was definitely a welfare vibe to it, if the conversation she was having with the man in front of me was anything to go by.
Thanks booking.com. Booking.com, booking.fail!
Still the receptionist was very friendly and chatty, and at this point I was ready to just lie down and sleep. I fear McMinnville will pass me by, but hopefully the Turkey Tail will have me back on track tomorrow…
